Practical guidance
The Instagram transcript workflow is intended for a specific public Reel or video post, not an account profile, hashtag page or collection.
Open the post, use Instagram’s Share action and copy the full link. Common public URLs use an instagram.com/reel/ or instagram.com/p/ path. CastToAny checks the hostname, sends the approved link to its media worker and creates the project before transcription begins.
A post that opens in your signed-in app is not necessarily available to an external transcription service. Private accounts, Close Friends content, deleted posts, expiring Stories, age-gated media and posts restricted by region or login cannot be fetched. If you created the video and its link cannot be resolved, uploading the original MP4 is the more reliable option.
An Instagram transcript records the spoken audio rather than copying the post caption.
It also does not automatically read text stickers, product labels or burned-in subtitles that appear only in the picture. Play the source while reviewing the timestamped segments, then add any visually important wording yourself. Names, handles, slang and fast calls to action deserve particular attention.
Once reviewed, the Instagram transcript can support several legitimate workflows: creators can recover the script from their own Reel, editors can prepare accessible captions, researchers can locate a quotation, and marketing teams can turn an approved video into notes or a fresh article draft. Export SRT or VTT when timing matters; use TXT when you only need clean copyable text.
Short-form video can be difficult to transcribe because speech often competes with music, sound effects and rapid cuts.
Clear single-speaker audio usually produces a stronger Instagram transcript than a noisy event or overlapping conversation. Treat automatic text as an editable working draft: check numbers, names, claims and quotations before publishing them elsewhere.
Only transcribe content you own, have permission to process or are otherwise legally allowed to use. A public post is still protected by copyright and privacy rules. CastToAny does not publish to Instagram or claim ownership of the source. The extraction worker uses temporary processing files, while the resulting project and transcript remain associated with the signed-in user’s workspace.
Open the public Reel, choose Share and copy its link. Paste that URL into the Instagram transcript tool and start the import. When processing finishes, open the project to review the timestamped text.
Public Reel links and video posts may work when Instagram exposes the media from the shared URL. Private accounts, deleted posts, Stories and content that requires a login cannot be processed.

Instagram may apply login, age, regional or automated-access restrictions even when a post looks public in your app. If you own the recording, upload the original file instead.
The tool transcribes spoken audio. Text stickers, burned-in captions and words visible only in the video frame are not automatically extracted, so add any important visual wording during review.
